SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE
A little preparation.
A better sale day.
Each sale has its own terms. Use this guide to know what to check before shopping, bidding or collecting a purchase.
Before an in-person sale
- Check the listing. Confirm dates, hours, the published address, parking and any entry procedure.
- Plan for payment. Look for accepted payment methods, applicable taxes and any posted purchasing rules.
- Inspect before purchasing. Look at condition, dimensions, components and accessibility. Ask questions about anything unclear.
- Prepare for larger items. Check the removal deadline and arrange the vehicle, help and equipment needed.
Before an online auction
- Read the full terms. Review registration requirements, buyer’s premium, taxes, payment deadlines and return or refund rules.
- Study the lot. Read its description, condition notes, measurements and photos. Ask about missing information before bidding.
- Know when bidding ends. Check time zones, staggered closing and whether bidding may extend near the end.
- Calculate the total cost. Include any premium, taxes, packing, shipping or freight in your budget.
Pickup and shipping
Confirm that your selected item can be shipped before bidding or buying. Large furniture, fragile belongings and items requiring freight may need special arrangements. A shipping option for one lot does not mean every lot can be shipped.
For local pickup, check appointment requirements, collection windows, identification or invoice requirements, and whether loading assistance is available. Keep the sale contact details with your order information.
The listing is the starting point.
This guide is general preparation advice. The published terms for the specific sale or auction govern the purchase, payment and collection arrangements.
